Choosing a domain name
Your domain name is the address people type to find you, such as yourbusiness.co.uk. Here is how to choose one and what the endings mean.
Common endings
- .co.uk is widely trusted by UK customers and is a common choice for UK businesses.
- .uk is a short UK ending, and can be a good option if it is available.
- .com is the most widely known ending worldwide.
- .xyz is a more general ending, and can suit newer or modern brands.
Tips for choosing
- Keep it short and easy to spell over the phone.
- Include your business name or town, if you can.
- Avoid hyphens and numbers, which are easy to get wrong.
- Check it is not a trademark used by someone else.
