Local search basics
Customers often search "plumber near me" or "cafe in Wolverhampton". This guide covers the basics that help a local business show up, and what nobody can promise.
What helps
- Clear page titles and descriptions. Each page should say what it is about, in a few plain words.
- Your business name, town and services in the text. Write for people first. Do not repeat keywords unnaturally.
- A mobile-friendly site. Most local searches happen on phones.
- A secure address. Sites that load over HTTPS are the norm.
- Google Business Profile. A free listing that shows your hours, area and phone number on Google Maps and search. Keep it up to date.
- Genuine reviews. Ask happy customers to leave a review. Never buy reviews or write them yourself.
What no one can promise
Nobody can guarantee a first place on Google. Search results depend on many factors, including competitors and where the searcher is. Be cautious of anyone who promises a fixed position.
What we set up
Every site we build has a title and description on each page, a mobile-friendly layout and a secure connection. Your Google Business Profile is set up by you, and we can help you write the details to add.
